From the battle scars on those once shiny new red helmets to the new “Husky Walkway” at our home entrance gate, we enjoyed another great season of little Husky football in 2010. The 2nd annual Paws-in-Pink and the inaugural Senior Division II Powderpuff Game illustrated how our Husky Spirit helps our community. What a family we have here at the TYFL! We Huskies all know what a great place Trussville is to live. Apparently, the word is out and our community is bursting at the seams. The City of Trussville’s planners have reviewed ways to accommodate this growth and have made a few changes which affect the TYFL. Beginning in 2011, you must be a Trussville citizen to be on a Trussville parks’ board. To assist in the efforts of the City planners, the TYFL has also passed a motion that, beginning with the 2011 season, participants must be Trussville citizens, zoned for Trussville City Schools, or the child of a Trussville City employee. Participants who did not meet these guidelines but, who played on a TYFL team last year, are grandfathered as a qualified player. If the player chooses not to play for Trussville in 2011, their qualification is nullified. 2011 will pose new challenges - both on and off the field. I’m confident this season’s board members, parents, players, cheerleaders, coaches, and fans are up to those challenges. We’re hoping to add new shoulder pads, bolster our training tools, and replace the sprinkler system. Thanks to our 2010 sponsors, we’re off to a fast start in achieving those improvements. Let’s all bring our Husky Spirit and keep walking the path of the GRIDIRON. 2011 will be our best season yet!
